GROVE LAND, MA : A 42-year-old Haverhill man received non-life threatening injuries after he crash on Tuesday, July 11, 2017

Police in Groveland said a 42-year-old Haverhill man received non-life threatening injuries after he crashed his bicycle into a car that was stopped in preparation for making a turn.

Police said the cyclist was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.

Groveland Police Chief Jeffrey Gillen reported that on Monday, just after 6 p.m., police responded to a crash involving a bicyclist in the area of Elm Park.

Following a preliminary investigation, officers learned that a 32-year-old Rowley woman, who was driving a 2008 Honda Accord, was turning left onto Elm Park in front of Your Place & Ours Pizza & Subs. At the same time, a 42-year-old Haverhill man on a bicycle was traveling northbound on Elm Park at just under 20 miles per hour and did not notice the stopped car in the process of turning.

The cyclist collided with the vehicle's right side, causing him to roll over the roof of the car and land on the other side. He was transported via ambulance to an area hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

A Groveland Police investigation determined that, given the area where the crash occurred and the traffic at the time of day, the congestion on the road made it difficult for either person to see the other. The driver was not cited.
