South Burlington, Vermont
A woman from Romania has been hit and killed by a car in South Burlington.
Police say that fatal crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday in front of the Staples Plaza on Williston Road.
Julia Gorda, 20, of Romania, was taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care with severe injuries, where she later died.
Police say they're still working to figure out what happened, but at this point don't think speed drugs or alcohol were factors.
"With the agreement of the owner of the vehicle, we're going to keep the vehicle for a few days, were going to map out the scene here tonight and kind of go step by step," said Det. Ron Bliss of the South Burlington Police Department.
Police identified the driver of the vehicle as Mitchell Stern, 61, of Essex Junction. Police do not plan to charge Stern in connection with the crash.
