Renton, WA : Teen skateboarder critically hurt in a hit-and-run crash on Sunday September 7th 2014
A 16-year-old could face charges after he hit a skateboarder with his car, then took off and left him for dead, police say.
The collision happened Sunday at about 5:40 p.m. in the intersection of NE 1st Place and Whitman Court NE in Renton. Andrew Finnell, 17, was skateboarding across the intersection when a newer white Dodge Magnum slammed into him.
The victim's brother, Tyler Finnell, was there and spoke briefly with the driver to make sure he'd stick around - but the driver took off.
"I think someone who would do something like that is very cowardly," Tyler said. "Only a scared, cowardly person would run from something like that."
Andrew Finnell was rushed to Harborview Medical Center unconscious and in critical condition.
Police say they were able to track down the driver thanks to his interaction with witnesses.
His car was impounded but he has not been arrested at this point.
