Scottsdale, AZ : Pedestrian fatally hit in Scottsdale near Thomas Road and 68th Street on Thursday, 20th February, 2020

Police said 68th Street has been reopened after a car struck and killed a pedestrian Thursday morning in Scottsdale.

The pedestrian was identified as Jason Barnhart, 38.

Police responded to a call around 6:20 a.m. that Barnhart was hit by a car at 68th Street, between Thomas Road and Avalon Drive, Scottsdale police officials said.

Police said Barnhart died at the location.

Police identified the driver as Amy Durgan, 47.

Durgan stayed following the collision. Investigators determined that Durgan was impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash. She was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Scottsdale police officials said.

Durgan was driving northbound on 68th Street when Barnhart crossed the street midblock, and the vehicle struck Barnhart, police said.
