Jackson, MS : Jackson man driving with no headlights killed in 1 vehicle accident on Saturday, May 2, 2015

Jackson Police say a man speeding and driving without headlights was killed in a one vehicle crash just after midnight Sunday.

Twenty-seven year old Ricardo Blackmon crashed at Collier and Edwards, in northwest Jackson, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Chief Lee Vance says Blackmon was speeding and and driving without headlights. The officer turned around and tried to catch up, but before the officer got close, Blackmon crashed his car.

The family of Blackmon says they are not sure the information given to them by authorities is true because witness accounts say otherwise.

"And they are all coming up with the exact same story, that my brother was side swiped by a JPD officer," said Antonio Blackmon, the victim's brother.

JPD Chief Lee Vance wants those witnesses to come forward and put their accounts on paper.

"We've got what we believe is an accurate preliminary report," said Chief Vance. I would just say to the family or anybody else out there who has some information about this, please contact us, contact me, allow us to take a statement, bring whatever evidence you have," said Chief Vance.
Blackmon was a chef. Family members want a thorough investigation.

"We want a police report. We want to see his vehicle and we want answers," Antonio Blackmon stressed.

Chief Vance says he's waiting on toxicology reports to determine if Blackmon was under the influence. Anyone with information about this crash, please call Jackson Police.
