A Massachusetts State Police trooper who was injured in a car crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike has died.
Authorities announced Wednesday evening that 44-year-old Thomas Clardy had died from his injuries.
The crash was reported about noon in Charlton.
The Telegram & Gazette of Worcester reported Clardy had stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation when his cruiser was struck.
Clardy was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he later died.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck Clardy's cruiser will face charges.
Officials said Clardy joined the state police in 2005.
