Davenport,FL : Two killed in multi-vehicle crash near davenport in Highway 17-92 April 26th 2014.

A multi-vehicle crash near Davenport late Friday night claimed the lives of two people.The incident occurred just before midnight on US Highway 17-92 approximately 300 feet south of South Blvd.

According to a Polk County Sheriff’s Office report a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by 36-year-old Douglas Brate of Lake Wales triggered the crash when it struck the vehicle in front of him in the northbound lanes. The report states the Camry was either trying to pass the 2012 Chevy Cruze or got too close to the vehicle driven by 21-year-old Nicole Beaumont of Haines City.

After striking the Chevy the Camry veered into the southbound lanes of the roadway where it struck a Dodge mini-van head on. Brate was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, 24-year-old Alexandra Arellano of Haines City suffered minor injuries and was transported to Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport where she is listed in good condition.

A passenger in her vehicle, Melvin Jaramillo of Haines City, also died at the scene. His age is not known at this time.

Beaumont was not hurt in the crash. Two other passengers and an infant in the Cruze did not suffer any injuries. Investigators say occupants of all three vehicles were wearing seatbelts.
