Lynchburg, VA : A car wreck in Forest on Saturday, June 3, 2017

Virginia State Police identified the victim who died in a car wreck in Forest Friday as 80-year-old Elinor Sperburg Wilson of Bedford.

In a news release issued Saturday, VSP Sergeant Richard Garletts said the wreck occurred when a 2002 Buick Le Saber traveling east on U.S. 221 at 3:35 p.m. crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2012 GMC Acadia travelling west, then struck a 2007 GMC Envoy traveling west head-on.The collision occurred just to the east of Gladden Circle.

Wilson, who was wearing her seatbelt, died at the scene of the crash.

Garletts said the crash resulted in multiple injuries but the names of those involved are not currently available.

VSP Senior Trooper S. M. Krantz is investigating the incident.
