AMITE, LA : Elderly Louisiana woman dies after crash with truck on Thursday, 27th July 2023

An elderly woman died after a collision with a truck on Thursday, July 27.

The two-vehicle crash took place around 7:30 a.m. on LA Hwy 16 at McDaniel Road in St. Helena Parish. Investigators said Frances Johnson, 80, of Amite, died at a local hospital.

Louisiana State Police said Johnson was at a stop sign on McDaniel Road at the intersection of LA Hwy 16 before the crash. She then entered LA Hwy 16 and collided with the truck, a 2016 Peterbilt 567, which hit the driver’s side of Johnson’s car.
