Topeka, KS : 1 injured after car narrowly avoids hitting Topeka library in crash that left SUV on its side at S.W. 10th and Washburn Avenue on Thursday, 31st January 2019
One person was taken to a local hospital after a two-vehicle crash Thursday morning at an intersection in central Topeka.
The crash was reported about 9:50 a.m. at S.W. 10th and Washburn Avenue.
A Chevrolet Tahoe SUV that was involved in the collision ended up on its passenger side facing east in the center portion of intersection’s west side.
Meanwhile, a black two-door Dodge car that was in the collision went over a curb near the southwest corner of the intersection. The car crashed through a metal fence near a Topeka Metro bus stop, then continued west through a grassy area on the north side of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library. The car came to a stop after it struck a small tree about 12 feet from the library’s north side.
Police at the scene said one person was reported to have minor injuries and was taken by American Medical Response ambulance to a Topeka hospital for observation.
