One dead in motorcycle crash near Desert Inn & Sandhill

A motorcycle rider died Thursday night after his bike collided with a pick-up truck.

The crash happened at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Desert Inn Road near Brentwood Street. Police say the motorcycle, a 2005 Harley Davidson, was traveling westbound along Desert Inn, when it hit the truck. The truck was turning from Brentwood on to eastbound Desert Inn at the time of the collision.

The impact forced the 44-year-old rider from his bike. Emergency crews took him to Sunrise Hospital, where he died a short time later. The 41-year-old male driver of the truck and a 38-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries.

This is the 26th fatal crash in Metro Police jurisdiction this year.
