Excel, AL : Newborn Alabama boy killed in car crash in Monroe County on Sunday evening, July 27, 2014

Authorities say a newborn boy who was injured in a car crash in Monroe County over the weekend has died.

Alabama Department of Public Safety Sgt. Steve Jarrett says 12-day old Easton Mixon was injured when the car he was riding in collided with an SUV near Excel on Sunday evening.

Jarrett says Mixon was taken to the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile and died early Monday morning.

Additional information wasn't immediately available and Jarett says the crash is under investigation.
