Omaha, NE : 1 dead in I-80 collision early Saturday, January 7, 2017

A 29-year-old man died early Saturday when his sport utility vehicle collided with another on Interstate 80 in Omaha, police said.

Jose Rogelio Molina-Amaya of Omaha was killed in the wreck in the westbound lanes of I-80 near 99th Street. The other SUV fled, and police were searching for it and its driver, police said.

Molina-Amaya was driving a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner on I-80 when about 2 a.m. it left the road on the north side, went down a grassy shoulder, vaulted over a drainage ditch and overturned into trees about 300 feet from the shoulder.

Molina-Amaya, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was declared dead at the scene.
