Ashland City, TN : Woman dead after being hit by SUV at Ashland City Walmart on Thursday, April 9, 2015
An Ashland City woman was killed Thursday morning after being struck by a motorist at the Ashland City Wal-Mart.
The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. near the grocery side entrance of the store on Highway 12 South.
Ashland City police chief Marc Coulon said Kathy Poole, 60, of Marks Creek Hill Road, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Coulon said Poole was walking into the store with her daughter when Jennie Bledsoe, age unknown, of Bull Run Road in Ashland City, was exiting a parking space and hit the victim.
Bledsoe, who was driving a GMC Envoy, accelerated and reversed backward. She told authorities that the accelerator got stuck and didn't realize she had hit someone.
Poole was dragged about 25 feet, Coulon said.
Two other vehicles were struck as part of the accident.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol's fatal crash team is helping to investigate the accident.
Coulon said no charges have been filed against Bledsoe.
He added that the investigation continues and once all the information is gathered, the department will meet with the District Attorney's Office to review the case.
