Oklahoma City, OK : Man injured after being hit by a car near Kirkland Elementary School on Wednesday, December 16, 2015

A man is in critical condition at an area hospital after being hit by a car in Oklahoma City.

Police received a call around 2 a.m. Wednesday about a man partially lying in the road in the 5900 block of North Independence Avenue. This is near Kirkland Elementary School and Integris Hospital.

Investigators determined the man had been hit by a car.

Authorities said the victim was breathing when taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers said the driver of the car that hit the man left the scene.
