One person is dead and another is in serious condition following a single-car crash in Clay County early Saturday morning.
Colby Haugen, 39, lost control of a Cadillac Escalade while traveling northbound and taking a curve on Springbank Road — south of the Clay County Fairgrounds — at about 3 a.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The car went onto a grassy shoulder before colliding with a tree and coming to a rest on its roof. Haugen’s injuries were fatal; a passenger, Gina Gustafson, 43, was taken to Orange Park Medical Center with serious injuries.
FHP said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
