Ventura,CA : Two people were taken to a hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on July, Saturday 8th 2017

Two people were taken to a hospital after a multi-vehicle crash involving a Ventura police patrol car on Saturday, officials said.

Crews with the city of Ventura Fire Department responded about 6:45 p.m. to the crash near Telephone Road and South Victoria Avenue.

Four vehicles, including the police car, were involved and five patients were reported, authorities said. Two people were taken to Ventura County Medical Center in Ventura and the three others declined to be taken to a hospital, officials said.

Ventura police said one of the people who went to the hospital was a police officer in the patrol vehicle. They were also the only person in the patrol car at the time of the crash and that person's injuries were not life-threatening, police said.

Due to the Ventura officer being involved in the crash, the California Highway Patrol was investigating the incident.
