NASHVILLE, TN : Body identified after crash on I-40 on Tuesday, 27th August 2024

Jeffrey Weir, 62, of Lebanon was identified as the person found dead Tuesday evening following a crash on Interstate 40 West near Central Pike, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

Police said Tennessee Department of Transportation workers found Weir while collecting trash along the interstate Tuesday evening.

Investigators said Weir was driving west when he lost control of his Ford Fusion. The car crossed several lanes, hit a guardrail, and went down an embankment before coming to rest in the woods.

MNPD said Weir was reported missing by his family to the Lebanon Police Department on Tuesday. The family said they had not seen him since Saturday.
