MONTICELLO, IL : Minor injury in Monticello school bus accident on Tuesday, February 21st 2017

A Monticello student has been treated and released from a hospital after a Tuesday morning crash in Monticello that involved a school bus.

The accident occurred at 7:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of North Market Street in Monticello when a pickup truck heading south on Market hit a stopped bus in the back end. The school bus, which was waiting for a car to turn into a private driveway, was transporting 29 students.

One student was transported to Kirby Hospital where they were treated and released.

The driver of the truck, 17-year-old Bement resident Jaylen Dillon, was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
