Abilene, TX : Two die after collision just north of Haskell on Saturday evening, March 18, 2017

Two Vernon College teenagers died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident just north of Haskell Saturday evening.

Yancie Wade McCuiston, 19, of Sugar City, Colorado, was pronounced dead at the scene. Vinita Jean Trevino, 19, of Petrolia, died later at Hendrick Medical Center.

Four other people were injured in the wreck that occurred shortly after 6 p.m., just north of Haskell.

McCuiston was driving a pickup and towing a horse trailer, when according to the Texas Department of Public Safety, he did not obey a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 277 and Business U.S. Hwy 277. A second vehicle, a motor home towing a Kar Kaddy trailer, collided with the pickup.

Passengers in the pickup who were also injured were Jakob Todd Plummer, 20, of Wichita Falls, who was taken to Hendrick Medical Center with what DPS described as critical injuries, and Drew Davis Hill, 20, of Canadian, who was taken to Haskell Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Michael Lea Moynihan, 73, of San Angelo, was driving the motor home and sustained serious injuries. Terry Moynihan, 72, of San Angelo, had unknown injuries. Both were taken to Haskell Memorial Hospital.

Vernon College President Rusty Johnson confirmed the students were attending a rodeo event in the Haskell area.

The college issued a statement saying, "Vernon College extends concern and support for members of our rodeo team and the Vernon College students involved in a vehicle accident. Sincere condolences to the family of Yancie McCuistion and Vinita Trevino and continued prayers for Drew Hill, Jakob Plummer, and their families."

The DPS investigation of this accident is continuing.
