ALAMOSA COUNTY, CO : Daughter left to die when driver ran off after crash on Tuesday, January 17th 2017
She was 24, she was pretty, young and beautiful. She was way too young to go."The mother of two didn't make it home to her children Monday night. A crash claimed Marcie Quintana's life on Highway 285, just south of Alamosa, Colorado.
Her shattered parents say the person who caused the crash left her alone to die.
"If he would've took some kind of action and just drove her or jumped in the car and taken her to the hospital, maybe she would still be here right now," said her father, Anthony Quintana.
Marcie was the passenger in a 2008 Chrysler 300. Troopers say the driver of that car lost control while traveling north on Highway 285. He careened into the southbound lanes, hitting the front of a 2004 Ford Ranger. He then ran away from the crash, jumped into a different car and drove off, leaving Marcie behind.
When troopers arrived on scene, they found Marcie alone and unconscious in the car. She was rushed to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
The driver of the Ford Ranger suffered minor injuries.
"I was in shock. I just had to go to the hospital and make sure," Anthony said. "I wish that on no parent, to see their daughter laying there."
Troopers believe alcohol and driving too fast for the road conditions played a part in the crash.
"The last words that she said to me was, 'Dad, thanks for supporting me," Anthony said. "I changed her diapers. I combed her hair. She was my baby girl and she was also my best friend."
The family said they believe they know who was driving the car, although investigators have not released a suspect's name yet.
They have a message for him.
"Be a man and turn yourself in. Be responsible and take responsibility for what you did," Anthony said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Colorado State Patrol at 719-589-5807.
