Smyrna, TN : Georgia man seriously injured in I-24 crash in Smyrna on Thursday morning, October 30, 2014
A 49-year-old Georgia man was seriously injured in a crash on Interstate 24 in Smyrna Thursday morning.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said Michael Miles was traveling west on I-24 around 6:45 a.m. when he lost control of his Chevy Astro van and crossed over three lanes of traffic.
Miles' van sideswiped a tractor trailer and then collided with a second semi-truck that was parked alongside the interstate.
Miles was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The driver of the first semi suffered minor injuries. The third driver was uninjured.
No charges were filed.
Westbound lanes were closed so air transport could land.
One lane reopened to traffic around 7:30 a.m. The interstate reopened by 8:30 a.m.
An update on Miles' condition was known.
