Woodland, CA : Woodland police believe alcohol involved in Saturday accident on Saturday, January 14th 2017
Woodland police and firefighters had to extricate one person, while a bystander pulled another from her car following a three-vehicle accident.
The accident occurred around 1:20 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of North West Street and Kentucky Avenue, according to Woodland Police Sgt. Brett Hancock.
On arrival, police and firefighters found a blue Ford Mustang which contained 26-year-old Eduardo Mares Jr. and 25-year-old Diana Mares, both of Woodland.
Eduardo was pinned in the driver’s seat, according to Hancock and had to be extricated by firefighters, Hancock reported Sunday.
The second vehicle, a silver Chevrolet Cruze, lost control after the collision and struck a parked Chevrolet Suburban on the north side of Kentucky Avenue. The driver of the Chevrolet, 50-year-old Woodland resident Mario Guerrero, was removed from the vehicle by a bystander and was unresponsive when police got to the scene.
All three people were transported to the UC Davis Medical Center by ambulance for injuries ranging from minor to serious, Hancock reported.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the Mustang, driven by Eduardo was traveling southbound on West Street and the Chevrolet, driven by Guerrero, was traveling westbound when the vehicles collided in the intersection.
Hancock reported that Guerrero is being investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol. Failing to stop at a red light and driving under the influence are being investigated as causes of this collision, he noted.
Police are also asking that anyone who has information on the accident, contact the department at 666-2414.
