A Central Point man is dead after colliding head-on with a motor home changing lanes Sunday near Klamath Falls.
Wally M. Larson, 79, died at the scene of the collision shortly before 10 p.m. on Highway 140 near milepost 58, west of Klamath Falls.
A report from Oregon State Police said Larson was traveling east in a Chevrolet Suburban in a reckless manner, according to witnesses. He attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone at a high rate of speed and struck a westbound Ford motor home occupied by a family from Pleasant Grove, Utah.
The victims, a 38-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, an eight-year-old girl and a six-year-old boy, were transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center with minor injuries.
The highway was closed for roughly four hours as emergency crews responded. The investigation was ongoing as of Monday and more information will be released as it becomes available.
