Laconia,IN : 17-year-old Michelle Kiewitt killed and two others injured after car crashes into tree in southern Indiana on Sunday ,May 24th 2015

Authorities say a southern Indiana teenager has died after the car she was driving struck a tree, throwing her from the vehicle.

A coroner in Louisville, Kentucky, says 17-year-old Michelle Kiewitt of Seymour was pronounced dead in a University of Louisville Hospital operating room around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, about two hours after the crash.

Authorities say Kiewitt wasn't wearing a seat belt when she lost control of the car on Indiana 337 near the town of Laconia, about 25 miles southwest of Louisville.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Department says two teenage passengers riding in the car also suffered injuries, including one who was in critical condition at the hospital Sunday. The other was in stable condition there.
