A motorcyclist was killed in a collision near 51st Avenue and Union Hills Drive on Friday night, Phoenix police said.

A pickup truck collided with the motorcycle in the intersection, police said.

The motorcyclist, whom fire officials said was transported in "extremely critical condition,'' was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later, Phoenix police spokeswoman Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said.

The two other people were transported in stable condition, Phoenix fire officials said.

Witnesses told police the pickup truck turned in front of the motorcycle, Fortune said. Police have yet to determine if impairment was a factor, Fortune said.

Union Hills Drive was restricted between 45th and 53 avenues and 51st Avenue was restricted at Union Hills Drive while the investigation continued late Friday.
