Louisville, KY : Baby dies after car crash on 32nd Street in Louisville's West End on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020

A baby was killed and a woman injured after a crash early Wednesday on 32nd Street in Louisville's West End, according to police.

Officers responded just before 2 a.m. Wednesday to 32nd Street near West Magnolia Avenue, where a female driver had reportedly struck an unoccupied, parked vehicle, said Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley.

The driver and a baby inside the car were both taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead and the woman underwent treatment, Smiley said.

The age and identity of the baby have not been released, and an investigation remains ongoing, according to police.

About an hour after the fatal crash on 32nd Street, a second fatal crash was reported across the city on Baxter Avenue near Broadway, where the driver of a car died after rear-ending a cement truck, according to LMPD.
