Two passengers were killed in a crash on Highway 101 near the Spence Road exit south of Salinas on Tuesday at about 10 a.m.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Oscar Loza, the driver of a northbound Nissan Altima attempted to make a U-turn on the highway and was hit by a southbound Toyota SUV.
Two right-side passengers in the Nissan, identified as a man and a woman in their 20s from Soledad, were killed in the collision, while the 60-year-old driver of the car complained of pain but was not taken to the hospital.
