One person died and two others were seriously injured Friday morning in a crash along Highway 26.
Crash investigators found that a silver Camry was heading east on the highway when around 9:30 a.m. Friday the car veered off the road and crashed into a tree near milepost 45.
Emergency crews pronounced the right rear passenger dead at the scene.
The two people sitting in the front seats suffered serious injuries in the crash; they were flown to OHSU in an air ambulance.
It’s still unclear what caused the driver to veer off the roadway, the Washington County Sheriff’s office said.
The highway was blocked while the helicopter ambulance landed. The Oregon Department of Transportation reopened the highway to one lane and flagged traffic around the crash scene.
