Canaan Township, OH : One person dead, three hurt in Wayne County accident on Tuesday evening, January 6, 2015

One person is dead and three were injured in an accident Tuesday evening in Wayne County.

According to the Wooster Post of the State Highway Patrol, a tractor trailer was southbound on state Route 83 approaching Pleasant Home Road at 5:24 p.m.

A Subaru that was also southbound behind the semi attempted to pass it in a no-passing zone as two northbound vehicles approached.

The Subaru did not have enough clearance to pass and lost control. It struck the left side of the semi the struck the first northbound vehicle, a Chrysler, then struck the second northbound vehicle, a Chevrolet.

The semi traveled off the right side of the road and came to rest in a field.

The driver of the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru was taken to Wooster Community Hospital and then LifeFlighted to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland.

The driver of the semi was taken to Lodi Hospital with injuries that weren't life-threatening.

The driver of the Chrysler was treated at the scene.

Driver and specific vehicle information is not being released until family is notified.

The crash remains under investigation, and it is not know if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
