SOUTH HADLEY, MA : South Hadley third-grade teacher Parmatma Khalsa killed in crash on Thursday, 21st November, 2019

A third-grade teacher from Moiser School was killed in a crash on his way to work Thursday morning, leaving the entire community mourning his loss.

“There is a very jagged hole in everyone’s hearts today,” said Paul L. Goodhind, principal of the school.

Parmatma S. Khalsa, 44, of Leverett, was killed in a two-crash that occurred just before 7:30 a.m. on a stretch of Route 116 near the Amherst-South Hadley line known as the Notch, said Mary Carey, communications director for Northwestern District Attorney David E. Sullivan.“He was one of the finest people, human beings, I have ever met. He was an amazing, well-respected and much-loved teacher at the school,” Goodhind said.

Superintendent Nicholas Young is sending a message to all the parents in the school outlining plans on how the teachers will handle the death with the school’s children, who are in the second, third and fourth grades, he said.
