Carthage, IL : LaHarpe woman injured in crash on Friday night, July 1, 2016
A single-vehicle crash late Friday night or early Saturday morning on the east edge of LaHarpe resulted in serious injuries to the driver.
Deidre A. Bible, 28, LaHarpe, was westbound on Route 9 about 800 feet east of County Road 2650 North when she failed to slow down at the curve and left the roadway, according to the Illinois State Police.
The 2006 GMC Envoy continued southwest, with no evidence of braking, for 300 yards. The SUV went through a small fence, causing property damage, and came to rest after running head-on into a tree.
Bible was trapped in the vehicle, and the crash wasn’t discovered and reported until 10:15 a.m. Saturday. She was airlifted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Bible was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She had no passengers.
She was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Assisting ISP at the scene were the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, LaHarpe Fire and Ambulance Services, Carthage Memorial Ambulance Services, and MedForce.
The crash remains under investigation.
