Louisville, KY : LMPD responds to fatal accident on Dixie Highway on Friday night, May 6, 2016
A car collision that left one passenger dead shut down a section of Dixie Highway late Friday night.
The Louisville Metro Police Department responded to the automobile accident in the 5200 block of Dixie Highway just before 11 p.m. The preliminary investigation, created based on statements from witnesses, claimed that a vehicle with two passengers travelling southbound turned left to park at a Domino's Pizza but was t-boned by a vehicle travelling northbound on the road. Both passengers were ejected, and the passenger in the vehicle -- the daughter of the driver -- was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were transported to University Hospital with what appeared to be nonlife-threatening injuries.
The LMPD's traffic unit is handling the continued investigation, and no charges had been filed as of early Saturday morning. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision.
