One man was killed and another hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday on the West Side, Columbus police said.
William Burks, 70, of Galloway, was driving a 2016 Ford Transit Connect van northbound on Grandview Avenue at 12:01 p.m. when he collided with a 1997 Honda Accord driven by Logan Kramer, 21, of Newark, that was turning left to enter the Interstate 670 westbound on-ramp, police said.
A front-seat passenger in Kramer’s car, Lawrence Benintend, 48, of Pataskala, was transported to Mt. Carmel West hospital, where he later died at 3:25 p.m. Kramer was admitted to Mt. Carmel West in stable condition. Burks was evaluated by medics and released.
Benintend’s death was the 21st traffic fatality in Columbus this year, police said. An investigation is continuing.
