Minneapolis, MN : Former theater director killed in head-on crash with tractor trailer on Highway 50 near Hampton on Wednesday afternoon, March 2, 2016

The high school theater community is mourning the loss of a former director, who was killed in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon.

According to a report by the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened around 3:48 p.m. Wednesday near Hampton.

Dennis Swanson, 70, of Eagan, was driving his 2007 Toyota Camry north on Highway 50 when he suddenly -- and as the State Patrol states "for an unknown reason" -- veered into the southbound lane, striking a 2016 International Tractor head-on.

Swanson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 44-year-old Joseph Icenogel, of Colchester, IL, did not suffer any injuries.

Swanson, a beloved theater director who worked at Eagan, Lakeville and Apple Valley high schools, is being remembered for his impact on local students.
