Orlando, FL : Pedestrian in critical condition after a crash near Ivey Lane and Lenox Boulevard on Tuesday, January 31, 2017

A woman was in critical condition Tuesday after she was struck by a vehicle near Ivey Lane and Lenox Boulevard, Orlando police say.

Police were called about 7 p.m. to a report of a crash “with severe injuries to the pedestrian” about two blocks away from Carver Middle School, said Lt. Daniel Brady.

A pickup truck hit the woman, police said, and the driver stayed on scene until help arrived.

Orlando Fire Department medics rushed the woman to Orlando Regional Medical Center, Brady said. She suffered head and spine injuries.

Ivey Lane was blocked in both directions between Columbia and Piedmont streets as police investigated the crash. The road was reopened by 10 p.m.

The names of the victim and driver were not released, and no further information was immediately available.
