Tucson police say a 44-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after fatally striking a bicyclist with his car, fleeing the scene and refusing to pull over after police tried to stop him.
Police say Eric Corral was driving west on Valencia Road when he ran a red light at Nexus Drive and struck 58-year-old Scott Koch on Friday evening. Koch died shortly after being hospitalized.
Corral didn't stop after striking Koch but police later spotted his car. They attempted to pull him over, but Corral kept driving until he later came to a stop about 12 miles from the scene.
Police say Corral showed signs of impairment. He faces charges of second-degree murder, fail to stop for serious injury collision and felony fleeing.
