Gainesville, FL : Brooker man dies in Union County crash on Thursday, March 16th 2017

A 63-year-old Brooker man died in a Union County crash Thursday afternoon, the Florida Highway Patrol reported in a news release.

Dara Goodson was killed in the 3:13 p.m. accident on County Road 231, the release said.

Goodson's 1998 Toyota Corolla was headed south on CR 231 as a Freightliner truck was headed north. As both vehicles negotiated a curve, the truck crossed the center line and hit the Toyota, FHP troopers said.

The truck's driver, Bateney Avril, 35, of Jacksonville, was not hurt. No charges were filed.

Troopers could not say if Goodson was wearing a seat belt.
