Fletcher, NC : Hendersonville woman killed in crash on US-25 near Rockwell Drive on Thursday morning, April 14, 2016

Fletcher police said a 53-year-old Hendersonville woman was killed in a crash on US-25 Thursday morning.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. near Rockwell Drive.

Police said Melanie Bostic Smith was heading south when her vehicle swerved into the oncoming northbound lane and was hit by a dump truck.

Smith died at the scene.

EMS treated the dump truck driver at the scene.

US-25 was closed for more than an hour as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
