Woodburn, OR : Woman hit and killed by car on Highway 211 early Saturday morning, July 19, 2014
A 36-year-old woman was hit by a car and killed when she tried to cross Highway 211 early Saturday morning, state police said.
The crash occurred about five miles east of Woodburn near East Barlow Road at 4:35 a.m.
Sergeant Jason Lindland said two women were walking along the highway near the Rock Creek Bridge when they decided to cross the road in the darkness. One woman made it safely across, but the other was hit by a car. She died at the scene.
The woman's name has not been released.
The driver stayed at the scene and was not hurt. He cooperated with investigators. Lindland said there was no indication the driver was at fault in the crash.
Police reopened the highway at 10 a.m.
