Mantua , OH : One person killed in Car accident due to Slick roads in the western outskirts of Philadelphia on Sunday , January 18th 2015
An icy morning that terrified drivers and caused numerous car accidents on Sunday led to the death of one person in Mantua, according to NBC 10.
The single-car crash occurred at about 8 a.m., near Exit 53 of Route 55. Details on the identity of the deceased and the specifics of the accident were not immediately available, however, although it appears the crash was caused in part by weather conditions.
The accident was one of several ice-related collisions in the area. The Delaware River Port Authority closed all four of its bridges Sunday morning due to slick roads, and in the western outskirts of Philadelphia, more than 50 cars crashed in a single pile-up on I-76.
Freezing rain fell on South Jersey until about 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon. The official Twitter account of the State Police referred to the roads as an "ice rink."
