Tampa, FL : TRAFFIC: Fatal crash on NB I-275 near Sligh Avenue on April 23rd 2014

Northbound Interstate 275 reopened at East Sligh Avenue in Tampa Wednesday morning after a single car crash with a fatality, according to traffic officials.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the crash. According to the FHP report, a 2000 Buick LeSaber was going north on I-275 when the driver James Peterson lost control of the car and hit the crash attenuator.

Upon impact the car rotated and went across the roadway stopping on the opposite outside lane. Peterson, 45, of Tampa, died after the crash. Investigators have yet to determine if alcohol was a factor in this crash.

Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to the scene. Tampa Police officers were on scene helping with traffic. Officials reopened the roadway at about 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
