Aitkin, MN : 74-year-old man injured after ATV and SUV crash in Wealthwood Township on Tuesday, April 4, 2017

A 74-year-old Aitkin man was injured Tuesday when a Subaru Forester collided with the Polaris all-terrain-vehicle he was driving on Highway 18, near 385th Avenue in Wealthwood Township in Aitkin County.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported Gary George Brunes, 74, Aitkin, the driver of the ATV, and Carol Ann Sander, 77, Isle, the driver of the Subaru, were both traveling east on Highway 18. Brunes attempted to make a U-turn on the highway, and when Sander attempted to move into the westbound lane, her vehicle collided with the ATV, the state patrol reported.

Brunes was transported to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale for non-life-threatening injuries. Sander was not injured.

The crash was reported at 3:59 p.m.

The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
