Orlando,FL : Orlando police officer injured in Sunday night crash on December, Sunday 31st 2017

An Orlando police officer responding to a call was involved in a crash Sunday evening.

OPD Lt. Wanda Miglio said that when the crash happened the patrol car was responding with siren and flashing lights on at Silver Star Road and John Young Parkway, around 8 p.m.

Miglio said a civilian vehicle ran a red light at the intersection, and crashed into the OPD vehicle.

The police officer was taken to a hospital and treated for facial injuries.

The female driver of the other car ran from the scene. OPD officers responding to the incident found a woman matching the description of the driver, and took her into custody on an outstanding warrant. She was taken to OPD Headquarters for questioning.

The incident closed the intersection for awhile Sunday night. Silver Star Road is now open, but vehicles on John Young Parkway were being diverted onto Silver Star Road.
