Town of Alabama : N.Y : Two seriously hurt as car collides with tractor-trailer at Genesee County intersection on Thursday, March 23, 2017
Two people were seriously injured when their car went through a stop sign and collided with a tractor-trailer Thursday at the intersection of Route 77 and Route 63, according to State Police.
The driver of the car traveling south on Route 77, Donna L. Wolter, 69, of Medina, suffered head injuries in the collision, state troopers said.
A passenger in her vehicle, Purcil E. Buzard, 81, also of Medina, sustained severe injuries in the crash, according to authorities. Buzard was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, authorities said.
The crash happened at around 9:35 a.m., according to authorities.
According to state troopers, Wolter's vehicle apparently failed to stop at a stop sign and went underneath a tractor-trailer that had turned off Lewiston Road onto Route 77.
The impact of the collision severed the roof from Wolter's vehicle, which then crashed into a building and another vehicle before coming to rest, according to State Police.
The accident investigation is continuing, state police said.
