Franklin County, OH : One dead following crash involving motorcycle on Westerville Road at State Route 161 in Blendon Township on Saturday night, June 18, 2016

One person is dead following a crash involving a motorcycle.

Columbus Fire crews say it happened just after 7pm Saturday night on Westerville Road at State Route 161 in Blendon Township.

The Franklin County Sheriff says a box truck was apparently turning left into a business lot when 27-year-old Mark Blackwood, of Columbus, hit the truck.

Blackwood was pronounced dead at the scene. Driver of the box truck, Menouar Allalen was not seriously harmed in the accident.

When fire crews arrived on scene, the motorcycle was on fire. Due to the fire damage, the make and model of the bike are unknown.

Crews say Blackwood was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

It’s unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol was a factor.

The accident remains under investigation.
