Joplin, MO : Three hurt in two-vehicle crash on Highway 249 in Jasper County on Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Three people were hurt in a two-vehicle crash at 8:37 p.m. on Highway 249, half a mile north of Joplin in Jasper County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The patrol said James R. Wilkerson, 72, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, struck a moped in the rear. Wilkerson suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital Joplin by ambulance.

The driver of the moped, Justin B. Anderson, 16, of Joplin, and a passenger, Larissa L. Anderson, 40, of Joplin, both suffered serious injuries, the patrol said. They were taken to Freeman Hospital West and then transferred to Mercy Hospital Springfield.
