Charlotte, NC : 26-year-old good Samaritan hit, killed by a van on I-485 early Sunday morning, March 6, 2016

Lanes were blocked on I-485 early Sunday morning after troopers say a good Samaritan was hit by a van.

North Carolina Highway Patrol confirms that 26-year-old Alastair Teguiin was killed when trying to help a woman with a blown tire.

His body was found on the I-485 inner loop near exit 33 between Highway 29 and University City Boulevard in northeast Charlotte.

The trooper says that he stopped his car in front of the woman’s car. He got out and started asking her what was wrong. That’s when a van hit him.

The driver of the van left with troopers to complete a blood test and see if drugs were a factor. At this point of the investigation, alcohol has been ruled out as a cause for the accident.

Troopers are investigating the crash.
