Hagerstown,MD : Bicyclist killed in Hagerstown crash with motorcycle on April, wednesday 26th 2017

Hagerstown police said they were investigating a fatal accident Wednesday night involving a bicycle and motorcycle at Chestnut and Garrett streets.

The bicyclist, whose name was not released, died as a result of the crash, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.

The motorcycle operator was transported to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown with nonlife-threatening injuries, the release said.

An accident reconstructionist was called to the scene, and the investigation was still ongoing late Wednesday night, the release said.

The police department first reported the accident on its Facebook page, saying more information would follow and urging motorists to use alternative routes.

Police responded to the intersection at 6:52 p.m. for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, according to Washington County 911 supervisor.

The intersection in the South End of Hagerstown is about three blocks over from South Potomac Street in the area of West Howard Street.

Further details about the accident were not immediately available.
