GAFFNEY, SC : A Gaffney woman was killed in a crash in Cherokee County on Thursday, July 13, 2017
Troopers said a Gaffney woman was killed in a crash in Cherokee County on Thursday.
The incident happened around 9:20 p.m. about 3 miles south of Gaffney.
According to troopers, the driver of a 2000 Infiniti 4-door sedan was traveling west along Old Race Track Road near Leadmine Road during the crash.
The driver veered off the left side of the road, over-corrected, traveled over to the right side of the road and then traveled down an embankment before the vehicle overturned.
"The vehicle overturned on its left side trapping the victim between the door and the ground," Coroner Dennis Fowler said.
Fowler identified the driver as Amy Charlene Duncan, 40, of White Plains Road. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and died at the scene, Fowler said.
An autopsy will be performed on Friday.
Fowler said Duncan's death is Cherokee County's 12th traffic related death in 2017.
